January 2012 Hope you had a great start to the new year folks! Hit the ground running this end. Ali's 70th Birthday has been in the calendar for a while - and I'm creating 4 very similar portraits for his official fine art series to celebrate. The launch parties were then at Generation Pop! Manchester and Sportsframe Northampton on the 17th. Here's portrait number 2, an actual proper championship belt, shipped from Brazil for the night, that will go to the next winner, and one of Ali's biggest memorabillia collectors.
and the press for the event included being featured in the slightly massively circulated London Metro! Only issue.... no name check. Sits well with my Radio1 prime time shout out last year by Moyles.... where he only said my first name ha!
I was on MotorsportXS' stand at Autosport for the 4 day show - as they were launching their new concept of a motorsport discount loyalty card. I partially live painted a new Senna piece there, then finished back in the studio. I may as well specialise in painting on leather the amout of oil paint I managed to spread around the car. Most amazing though were the contacts made.... by 10 am on the first day I could have gone home happy! Watch this space.... and follow on Facebook for more instant updates!
And the Zombie movie I filmed for for a laugh back in the summer.... the trailers now out. I'm only in it 'bloody' twice hahaaa, and even got my logo in at 32 seconds, how about that!! Then falling through crates, in the middle at the front, at 1.10. Link to youtube here. Pics of the a-mayzing makeup further down this page under August.
December 2011 The Evergreen Gallery Daventry show was awesome! Many thanks to all who came, great to meet so many of the Facebook and Twitter crew too. The gallery had to jump through hoops to get the 2001 Jordan allowed on the street, but so worth it - many thanks to Daytona Karting for the loan for the evening. My throat was already playing up during the radio interview never mind after 4 hours gassing.... 4 days later I can just about talk again. And yes - thats a previously unseen Senna anywhere Senna piece that was unveiled on the night!
November 2011 Sooooo.... next up; F1 focused art show at Evergreen Gallery in Daventry! Eve of 1st December. At least 6 new originals, a chance to snap up ltd edition prints of some pieces, and supprted by the likes of Yoda, Clint Eastwood and Bono. Working on a few surprises.... but you'll have to be there to see. Please email studio(at)pauloz.co.uk if you'd like to be on the guest list!
Many thanks to the guys at Atlantic Records and his tour team for setting up a meeting with Bruno Mars last week! Elvis' biggest fan... indeed... he used to think he was Elvis he said. An awesome chap... and blimey can he sing! Was an honour to be with them in the hour before going on stage.
October 2011 I hope to get some actual work done this month! A couple of massive commission projects I need to kick off.... with one eye on work for a Generation Pop! Movie 'Night at the Movies' show in Manchester. To celebrate Sebastian Vettels phenomenal achievement of his 2nd F1 World Title by the age of 24, here he is! With his finger. 92x110cm oil on board.
Finally - I've had chance to finish the Jenson Button portrait started at the GP Ball in July.
Trainspotting 'Choose Life' is now hanging in Adee Phelans new salon at the Cube in Birmingham! And blimey.... what a launch party he threw.
Official Ltd Edition Mr Men prints are now available through my licencing partners Art You Grew Up With - click below (or ask) for more info. I'll be hand embellishing 40 of each.... to celebrate their 40th birthday this year. My Strong, Mr Noisy and Little Miss Trouble to follow.
The White Rose Ball in support of the Holocaust Centre was another event I was at last week.... met some great and inspirational people. First time I've been auctioned by Christies.... and I made the front cover! Jack Nicholson raised £3k for the charity.
September 2011
This post comes from a state of mild exhaustion, shell shock and disbelief.... after returning from the Cannonball Run USA a couple of days ago! Blimey, what a trip. 3000 miles in 4 days driving, 13 states from New York to LA, some epic nights out, very little sleep - and some friends for life made I am damn sure. True to form - some fantastic business contacts made too with meetings in Vegas and LA.... lets see what happens! Very very cool that every car was Paul Oz logo'd. Sharing every waking hour with Bordan offov the Apprentice/Viglen who I'd only met on a few occasions (and all of them slightly inebriated) was a plunge into the unknown... with hugely entertaining results. I learnt a hell of a lot - with such a diverse and individually successful bunch of entrepreneurs just thrown into the mix together, that was always going to happen. Yes there were ructions too.... but you always need stories to tell hey. August 2011 Live painting at Selfridges Oxford St with Art You Grew Up With and Mr Men publishers Chorion.... for Mr Tickles 40th! The series of 6 original oils and a very limited print edition will be released imminently!
On the set of the Apocalypse as a zombie! Details of the film release when I have them! With leading lady Jade Colucchi bottom left. She didnt want a snog. My neck hurt for days afterwards.
I know that not everyone agrees with personalised plates...... but this just had to be done. On brand innit!
July 2011 An absolutely crazy month of F1 parties, live painting, Polo club events, a show at House of Fraser Victoria and Concours D'Elegance at the Hurlingham Club Chelsea. Just need to get all the actual work done now! Summarised in my newsletter/blog thing if you'd like to sign up - but some images below! I'm honoured that very generous folk saw fit to donate a total of £16.5k for 3 of my artworks at charity auctions too. Humbled.
Concours D'Elegance, the luxury lifestyle show at the Hurlingham Club - more supercars you can shake a stick at, helicopters and 90mph speed boat rides on the Thames with Linley Swan GP who I was there live paiting with - a £300k Ferrari watch made by Cabestan! In the pic below from the afterparty with Linley Swan GP, Bordan and Nick from the Apprentice (MASSIVE news coming soon!), Made in Chelea cast and Alex Paphitis.
The F1 party at the Natural History Museum. I could have gone home happy at 8pm after a pat on the hand and 'Dear boy thats lovely' from Bernie Ecclestone upon seeing his portrait. That was only the start of an awesome party.... and the only one I wasnt really 'working' at.
GP Ball at the Hurlingham Club.... live painting Jenson Button through the evening. Incredible party, some awesome contacts made. And I lost my easel somehow. Great to freak Damon Hill out too showing him the commissioned piece I'd just finished of him and his father together.
Live painting at Marussia Virgin F1's sponsor dinner at Stowe School..... an incredible bulding to paint in - and their headline sponsors QNet bid up to £6.5k for the at that point unfinished MVR02 piece!
Stirling Moss with the portrait of him after he signed it.... and will be featured in the next issue of Motorsport Magazine.
New blog post up covering all the F1 parties last week; http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=af8c072ec3c7b618cf8787292&id=b917b3c1e7 With Paul Karslake at the House of Fraser Victoria show
June 2011 Marking the start of a summer of F1 focus building to 'plans I can't yet mention' towards the end of the year, Bernie's portrait will be auctioned for Gt Ormond St at the F1 Party, and Senna will be on display with several others at the GP Ball at the Hurlingham Club the following day where I'm also live painting. More news about these as we get closer.... I'm also live painting at Marussia Virgin Racing's team and sponsor dinner at Stowe School on the Saturday night between Silverstone quali and the race - looking forward to that one! Only decision is wheather to paint Timo Glock or Richard Branson.... both equally important to get right when theyre going to be there!
