June 10

Its still going nuts..... I thought there was meant to be a rescession on? Awesome, many thanks all. Hardly had chance to update website - must do so more often. World Cup painting took off and spread round the internet like wildfire. Have you found my Facebook page by the way? If not - please come say hi! Several shows in the planning stages, working together with an architect on a massive project and something REALLY exciting with a Premiership football team..... watch this space!

May 10

More exciting projects in the pipeline - I wish I could talk about more of them! Will do so asap. Robert Downey Jr painted live at the White Horse Leamington as a warm up to Warwick Arts Week from 3rd July.

April 10

I've signed up to a huge show in London May 2011! Loads of ideas already, likely releasing two new series at the show - more details to follow!

Live painting at Warwick Studios went really well 24th April, completed 'With great vengenece and furious anger' Live in the gallery.

Some very exciting news working with the BBC..... more on that when I can....

March 10

Another crazy month of celeb portraits, pheasant unveiling at BMAG, and 14 piece commission for a RAAM cycling record holder depicting each of the 14 days continuous ride.

February 10

Blimey.... what a month! Allan the Pheasant has been acceceted for the West Midlands Open for 3 months this spring - details from link on the home page. Also had local BBC reporters round for a couple of live links about the Aid for Haiti event and Dot Cotton portrait.

I think I've completed my best work to date, and definately my largest at 1.6m tall, with the Terminator portrait to the right - getting into portraits now! He'll be central to a planned show at Warwick Studios in the spring.

Dot Cotton rasied a massive £5K for Haiti at the charity auction!

January 10

Happy new year all! Its started off with a bang here, a couple of commissions sorted over the last few weeks, as well as a portrait of June Brown aka Dottty for a Haiti charity auction....... details on Facebook from the link on the right! Readable even if you're not registered.

The event at the Ricoh arena Coventry 28th Feb is being coordinated by Adam Woodyatt (Eastenders Ian Beale) with stars from Corrie, Hollyoaks and Holby City also attending, meeting folks, signing autographs and the like to raise money to help Haiti survivors. My painting will be auctioned off on the day after its been signed by June herself - and email bids will be accepted for anyone who can't make it. Hope to see you there!

December 09

Great to see all of you who came to Warwick Studios! I even managed to get Milo the weimaraner finished despite talking non stop - and he turned out well! Great feedback too so many thanks - looks like I'm going to be busy....

November 09

I'll be painting 'live' at Warwick Studios, Saturday 5th December, all afternoon. Hope to see you there if you're local! Prints of a few pieces will be available if you're stuck for xmas presents - as well as originals of MJ, Iron Man, and Allan the Pheasant!

Pip theWestie and a few other'secret' commisions all finshed. The first attempt at my 3D painting concept didn't go to plan...... but I'm sure it will work! Practice, practice, pratice...... watch this space.

October 09

September 09

Details to follow imminently of the next Warwick Studios show - with a twist!

August 09

July 09

Several commissions completed over the last few weeks which I'm really pleased with - photos will be up as soon as they've been presented to the intended recipients! In the planning stages at the moment are a few more screen icons pieces in the way of Transformers which should be fun! And I'll be increasing exposure at the White Horse in Leamington as we make Superhero Corner!!!

June 09

Plans taking shape for a summer show - details to follow as soon as they are finalised - and will be covering all of my work including the first couple of pieces I painted since a 14 year break after school!

May 09

Back on track with new pieces now, after the last months on commissions, gifts and shuuuussshhhhhh projects. 'Big Eyes' was an idea I've had planned for a while. Feedback is positive, so a couple to follow in a similar vein.

20th March 09

Off down to London today to take one of my pieces, 'Doughnut, Donut' down for a 3 week show! Its been accepted by the Gallery at Willesden Green for their 'Food for Thought' 3 week show, 24th March to 16th April. They even used my piece for the flyer!

15th Feb 09

Its been a few weeks since I updated this page - just been flat out painting mostly! A few Star Wars images as you will have seen from the front page, as well as my favorite piece so far of Heath Ledger. The oils in each one I finish seems to be getting thicker and thicker at the moment - and I'm now searching out different tools I can use to go past the 1cm thick barrier that seems to be possible with a pallet knife..... unless I wait for 3 weeks for the underneath layer to dry, which just doesnt fit with how I like to work.

Barak Obama planned next, as well as another of Lewis Hamilton in his MP4-23, before the 2009 regulation changes making the cars look completely different

3rd Jan 09

The next Icons piece finished - the new rain master, Lewis Hamilton. To be honest, this was about the 4th attempt since the momentus day I spent in the rain at Silverstone in July - I just couldnt get the right approach despite 100's of images to work from. The painting is from a shot of Lewis just after he took the World title in Brazil - but with his visor up unlike the original photo.

I need to get it photographed properly to do it justice - but heres an idea on the right. Its pretty big, 105 cm tall.

I need to get one done of his MP4-23 too......

13th Dec 08

Well the painting went ok today at the Gallery! Slight dampener with the weather being so miserable there weren't many folk just popping in, but great to see all of you who went out other way to come in!

The painting went well, almost finished, and should be done in time for xmas if anyone was thinking along those lines.....?? I didn't get too much paint on anyone else work.... including the 20k Darren Baker originals right behind me!

I've tried to make the image recogniseable as Christopher Reeve - the only Superman as far as I'm concerned. I've just stumbled across a quote of his from his later years which may have to be an extended title for the piece, and will certainly be written on the back;

“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.”

Indeed. RIP Superman.

7th Dec 08

A date for your diarys; the next Paul Oz screen icons piece will be created live at Warwick Studios next saturday, 13th Dec! I'm not 100% decided on the subject yet - get your suggestions in now! It could get messy throwing paint around so we'll have to figure out a plastic sheeting rig, but will be a very interesting experiment for sure - hope to see you there!

6th Dec 08

Many thanks to Dave at daveperryphotography.co.uk for the afternoon spent digitally capturing the first of the 'screen icons' pieces. Its amazing what can happen when you know what youre doing with a camera!

Plans for a screen icons show with the guys from Warwick Studios moving on - hopefully coming to a city near you!!

30th Nov 08

There's been lots of experimenting going on over the last few weeks! Getting to grips with some different mediums mixed with oils for some very interesting effects. The first one was a commission for xmas and has worked very well although of course I can't post it on here yet - and if you've gotten this far you've already seen the first of the 'Screen Icons' on the home page! Let me know what you think. Comparing the splashes to earlier work, notably Priaulxs BMW, you may be able to see how they've progressed.

1st Nov 08

I've been really busy over the last few weeks - but with most of the projects surprises for people or WIP, not many I can shout about.

The Number One audio consultants launch evening was one hell of an evening though! Some very interesting contacts made, and some big projects in the planning stages because of it.

First 'worldwide' landscape piece of Sydney Harbour now complete after a special request - taken from a photo I took many years ago.

This week has been mostly all about Kings of Leon on the Ipod.....

9th Oct 08

Commission complete for One audio Consultants! The full imapct of the piece won't be unveiled until their opening party - but for a sneak preview, here's a small section on the right.

This week, I been mostly painting to complete randomness with 80 gig of music on shuffle..... which may go some way in explaining what I created.....

27th Sept 08

The studio/garage conversion is coming along nicely since moving home 2 weeks ago!

The commissions are flooding in too! A couple of 'secret' projects in the planning stages - as well as one I can shout about for a new showroom in Leamington Spa; Number One Audio Consultants. I'm really looking forward to this one as their logo will look awesome abstracted a bit, not to mention the stunning showroom the painting will reside in after I got a tour round their premises last week!

Click on the right for a link to their blog!

The Wizard Oz! I like it!!

7th Sept 08

First piece of Piccadilly completed to give more than an inkling of whats coming next! A few more of London over the coming months is one direction I'll be going in. Its up at Warwick Studios if you'd like to see in the flesh.

That will be it for a few weeks now as we're moving in a few days to a flat with a garage underneath - which will be promptly converted into a studio so I can start throwing paint around properly!

This week I've been painting to Dido believe it or not! I was painting trees though is my excuse.......

1st Sept 08

Majority of the Fingertips Tour was sold in the first week! Just some of the larger pieces left - all still up at the gallery for their 4th Week due to the sucess!

Loads of ideas as to where to go next..... alongside the several commissions I have to work on soon including some abstracts which I'm really looking forward too as I haven't enjoyed that level of freedom for a while.

19th August 08

Many thanks to all who came to the Fingertip Tour launch on sunday! Click the image on the right to see if you made it into the photos!

For those that didnt make it, all pieces will remain on display at the gallery until the 24th at least - but be quick, half of the series sold on the first day!

Right then...... whats next..... hmmmnnnnn......

8th August 08

Chesterton windmill and a couple of extra commissions completed for the Fingertip Tour! Now totaling 14 pieces.

Zane Lowes been pretty good this week, esp The Verve live......

Also seem to have found a new flat, complete with garage/studio underneath!

Now to start planning the auction......

18th July 08

With a brief departure from the Fingertip tour work - British world champ Andy Priaulx's BMW prioritised in time for him to sign it at the British round of the World series at Brands Hatch at the end of July.

This piece will be auctioned off later in the year for charity - as soon as enough interest has registered to guarantee a good price! Please signify your interest! It looks awesome framed - pics up asap.

This week I been mostly painting to Kasabian, and Al Green. One for motorsport, t'other for Jephson Gardens flower beds......

June 08

After 3 months work, 10 pieces complete for August show at Warwick Studios Art Lounge!

The first few pieces were on boxed canvas - but really loving painting on board of late, completely removing all texture apart from the paint itself. The initial stages feel like plastering! (An early 90's, very brief career trial.....)

My style during the project so far has gradually evolved, with the pieces becoming a lot tighter and cleaner as I get more practised with the subject matter.

This week I been mostly painting to Led Zepplin, Foo Fighters and Black Grape......

April 08

Fig 2 'OK, but don't show my face' and 'Gallardo' sold. The flat walls are strangely empty for a change....

Paint splash technique improving - images to follow.

For those that are interested; This week I been mostly painting to Aim and Freemasons.
